Information We Collect and the Legal Basis for Processing

The primary lawful basis for processing your personal data is the performance of a contract, specifically in order to manage your participation in our startup challenges as outlined in the terms and conditions. We do not perform any decision-making by purely automated means.

 

When you apply to one of our startup challenges, we collect the following information:

 

- Company name

- Full name of the contact person

- Email of the contact person

- LinkedIn company page (URL)

- Phone number of the contact person

- Country

- Website company page (URL)

- Company short description

- Challenge that best describes your innovative solution

- How Avolta could benefit from your solution

- Previous participation in startup accelerators or competitions

- Funding status

- Duration the company has been active

- Client list

- Executive summary/one-pager/presentation

- Number of employees

- How you heard about the ‘X’ challenge

 

We also collect non-personal information, such as IP addresses and browser types, under the lawful basis of legitimate interests to help us improve our services.

 

Additional Use for Marketing:

We also collect and use your data for marketing purposes to inform you of future opportunities and activities by Vine Stone Ventures.

 

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for various purposes, including to:

 

  • Evaluate applications for our startup challenges

  • Communicate with you about your application or any other inquiries you may have

  • Improve and optimize our services

  • Comply with legal obligations and resolve disputes

  • Handle inquiries and provide support via chat: Information collected through chat support will be used to address your queries, provide customer service, and improve our services. It may also be used for training purposes to improve the quality of our customer support.

 

Note: Any personal data provided is done so on a voluntary basis. However, failure to provide the requested data will make it impossible for you to participate in the competition.

 

Data Retention

Your data will be retained only for as long as necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Statement. For individuals not selected in the startup competition, all personal data will be deleted once the competition is closed.

 

For those selected, personal data may be retained for a longer period, which will be disclosed in separate communication, or until the completion of all obligations stemming from the competition, whichever is longer.

 

Your Rights Under GDPR

Regardless of your geographical location, you have various rights concerning your personal data. These rights are extended to all participants and include, but are not limited to:

 

  • The right to request access to your data

  • The right to request correction or deletion of your data

  • The right to object to the processing of your data

  • The right to data portability

  • The right to withdraw consent where consent is the legal basis for processing

  • The right to not be subject to automated decision-making

 

For residents of the European Economic Area (EEA), these rights are granted under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

 

If you are a resident of California, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including:

 

  • The right to know what personal data is being collected about you

  • The right to request deletion of your personal information

  • The right to opt-out of the sale of your personal information

  • The right to non-discrimination for exercising your CCPA rights

 

Disclosure of Your Information

We will not share your personal information with third parties without your consent, except for the following purposes or as required by law:

 

  • Evaluation by Avolta: Your data will be disclosed to Avolta executives and related personnel for the purposes of evaluating your project and application in the startup challenge.
     

  • Service Providers: We may share your personal data with third-party service providers who assist us in areas such as data storage, data analysis, and email services. These providers are contractually obligated to keep your information confidential and secure.
     

  • Legal Obligations: We may disclose your information when required by law or when we believe that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, comply with a judicial proceeding, court order, or legal process.

 

By participating in the competition, you consent to these disclosures.

 

International Transfers

Your personal information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in countries outside of the jurisdiction you are in, including the United States and the European Economic Area (EEA). These countries may have data protection laws that differ from those in your jurisdiction. We take necessary steps to ensure that your personal information is protected when transferred internationally, as set out in this Privacy Statement.

 

For residents of the European Economic Area: When we transfer your data to other countries, we use a variety of legal mechanisms to help ensure your data is appropriately protected, such as standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission.

 

For residents of California, USA: We adhere to the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and will take reasonable steps to ensure that your personal information is treated securely and in accordance with this Privacy Statement when it is transferred internationally.

 

If you do not wish for your personal information to be transferred internationally, please notify us; however, be advised that this may affect your ability to participate in the competition.

We have appointed a Data Protection Officer to ensure compliance with GDPR, CCPA, and other data protection laws. For any questions or requests related to your personal data, please contact policy@vine-stone.com .

If you believe that your data has not been handled correctly, or you are unhappy with our response to any requests you have made to us regarding the use of your personal data, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority in your jurisdiction.
